Fire Safety Inspections

The Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Field Operations Section employs a dedicated staff of Fire Safety Inspectors who perform inspections for new and modified fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms, fire suppression systems, and smoke management systems for compliance with Maryland law and the State Fire Prevention Code - PDF - 3.66 MB statewide.

Application process

  • To schedule an inspection for your project or building, please contact the state fire marshal's office located within the county of the property address.   See the link below for the list of office locations and contact information. 

 County Variations

Some counties (like Prince George's) have their own fire marshal or inspection departments.  Please contact their respective office if your property address is within one of the following jurisdictions.  If you are unsure, you may contact one of our regional or headquarters offices for further direction.  

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is responsible for all State-owned property.  If you are trying to schedule an inspection of a State-owned property, please use the list below for directions on which office to contact.
